EONI Dialup Accelerator
What is the EONI Accelerator?
The EONI Accelerator -- now available for both Windows 98 - XP and Macintosh OS X v10.2 or later -- provides faster Web access with your existing dialup service.
Plus, the Windows version also provides these features (not necessary for the Macintosh):
- Faster email download of pictures
- Built-in banner ad blocker
- Built-in pop-up ad blocker
Who should use the EONI Accelerator?
EONI dialup Internet access customers (except those using proxy web content filtering services, such as BESS or WebGuard).
What do I need to make the EONI Accelerator work?
- The system requires software to be installed on your computer.
- After installing the software you will be prompted for your EONI dialup account username and password. Do not include @eoni.com in your username when setting up the EONI Accelerator.
How much does the EONI Accelerator cost?
The EONI Accelerator is included at no additional charge with your EONI dialup account. We see some Internet service providers charge up to $7.95 for this service alone.
What gets accelerated?
Most Web content will be accelerated significantly, but there are certain exceptions, as shown below:
WILL BE ACCELERATED:
- All text - HTML, markup, and javascript
- Most banner ads - including animated gif images and Macromedia Flash content
- All browser-based emails
- All emails that contain images - even when read in a dedicated email program
- MP3 files, executables & other files - when downloaded from within your browser (depending on the quality of your connection)
- Portions of games - that use standard http
WILL NOT BE ACCELERATED:
- Streaming media, and audio and video files
- Secure pages, such as those used for online banking and credit card forms and pages accessed over VPN
- Files downloaded outside your browser using ftp
- Portions of games that use specialized, non-http protocols
